Abstract Submission - David Graham - E.O.N Engineering - VGB Emissions Monitoring Group

European Power Industry experience of EN14181

The experience gained in the implementation of EN14181 within the European Power Industry is reviewed, particularly with regard to QAL2/AST testing and the functional checks that must be performed on continuous emissions monitors, although other aspects of EN14181 are also considered. The emphasis is placed upon emissions of NOx, SO2 and Particulate Matter from Large Combustion Plant, including the impact of process variability and absolute emission level. Suggestions are made with regard to the difficulties encountered, including the extension of the Valid Calibration Range using surrogate materials, dealing with calibration gas uncertainty and the need for a flexible approach when emission concentrations are low.
