Abstract Submission - Mr. W. Averdieck -PCME Ltd

Industrial experience of continuous particulate emission monitoring to EN-14181 at the SILLA2 Municipal Waste Incinerator, Milan

The SILLA2 plant in Milan is owned and operated by AMSA and generates up to 60MW of power from the incineration of municipal waste on 3 incineration lines.

The plant is committed to satisfying the monitoring requirements of EN-14181 and has upgraded its continuous particulate monitoring system to meet these new requirements.

This case study overviews the practical experience in evaluating a DT-991 electrodynamic particulate CEM as suitable for this incineration application, and documents the recent progress in using a number of these instruments to meet EN-14181 on all three lines. The paper focuses on experience in operating the instruments, practical issues related to calibration at low dust levels and regulatory issues related to EN-14181.
