The 10th International conference CEM 2011 was held in Prague, The Czech Republic from 5th to 7th October.
CEM, the International Conference on Emissions Monitoring, has grown in strength and popularity. CEM 2011 continued this position as the major international conference and exhibition specifically designed to cover the subject of source emissions monitoring in its entirety.

At CEM 2011 there were 32 papers and presentations given over the two and half day conference, copies of the proceeding are available from info@cem.uk.com, spread throughout the 5 sessions which were:

But the conference programme was only one part of the CEM 2011 experience. The posters and extensive exhibition save delegates the chance to interact with those who may be able to answerthe very questions that would solve the many challenges they faced.

"This very popular event which was sold out months before it’s opening dates allowed Environnement SA's expert Jurgen Reinman to present a paper on "long term sampling - a method for continuous emission monitoring of dioxins / Furans and Mercury” to a highly skilled and professional audience. The show was a great success and its location was perfect."

Pompilia SOPCO - Environnement SA (France)

"I also wanted to inform you that we were very pleased with how the fair has been organised."

Francesca Paolucci - Loccioni (Italy)

The event attracted delegates, visitors and exhibitors from over 40 countries including USA, Australia, South America, Middle and Far East as well as most EU countries.

The international community is currently working to improve the co-ordination between monitoring systems and the legislation they support - for example, the EU aims to improve the alignment between the Large Combustion Plant Directive and the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Directive with the introduction of the Industrial Emissions Directive. But what will these and other changes in emission legislation mean for the pollution monitoring industry?

"The CEM2011 conference was excellent in all ways. The technical content was informative and interesting, the broad range of attendees allowed for good discussion and networking and gave perspectives from both European and international viewpoints. Finally the venue and organisation was really good, the presentations, break out area and exhibition area could all be accessed easily during well structured sessions."

Dan Jones - E.ON (England)

"This success is part of your combined efforts, and also we (Ankersmid Process/Sampling) found the Conference a success. We found interest from different fields, had time to catch-up with some of our suppliers and met with high end delegates from the Dutch Emission Authority."

Robert Stevens - Ankersmid (The Netherlands)

"The CEM 2011 was an excellent place to share information, know people and knowledge, I can recommend to other colleagues to participated in the next CEM."

Gustavo Quinteros - e3 (Bolivia)

CEM is the only conference which facilitates open discussion between regulators, authorities, sources, measurement companies and other interested parties to discuss all these issues on a level playing field.

The organisational force behind CEM 2011 is the IEA CCC and the STA. The International Energy Agency - Clean Coal Centre - www.iea-coal.org.uk - is the world's foremost provider of non-biased information on the use of clean coal worldwide. IEA CCC products include in-depth topical reports and online databases of coal information. They also provide advice, facilitate R&D networks and organise workshops. The IEA CCC is funded by member countries and industrial sponsors so the analysis stays impartial.

"CEM 2011 in Prague really exceeded my expectations. The conference program met most actual and future core themes of our business (technical, legislation, research, upcoming developments etc.). Every single presentation was useful and valuable. The exhibition was also highly interesting with a participation of top companies and manufacturers that really covered most CEM applications.
My compliments for the excellent organisation of CEM 2011 at all levels. I was very pleased not only because everything has been perfectly organised from the first to last day but also because you provided at all times a friendly and immediate support."

Nikos Mantas - ENCO (Greece)

"We generated many very interesting sales leads and I saw lots of very well known people."

Philip Zimmel - JCT (Austria)

The Source Testing Association (STA), www.s-t-a.org, was established in 1995 and has a corporate membership of over 200 companies from process operators, regulators, equipment suppliers and test laboratories who have an interest in emission monitoring. The STA is a non-profit making organisation.

"I really appreciate this event and thank you a lot for the perfect organisation of it."

Thomas Steiner - Dioxin Monitoring (Austria)

This International event has been organised in many European Countries since its inaugural meeting in 1997,including the UK, Netherlands, Denmark, Switzerland, France and Italy.
